Water Tanks use is spilt into categories, CAT ‘1’ Being Potable wholesome water for Drinking, upto Cat ‘5’ for Tanks that can pose dangerous for human consumption, most tanks (to Byelaws (previously by-law 30) are Cat ‘3’ or higher,

Most Water Authorities are requesting tank be Cat 5, to ensure any potential contamination in the tanks cannot pass through to the mains and contaminate the area. thus a number of new tank projects request or require Cat 5 or Type AB Air gap.
